A Passion Carved in Wood

Hi there! I’m Nithin, the face behind DigitalWoodworker.

I hold a Master's in Electronics and, like many graduates in the 2000s, landed in the Indian IT industry. Crafting started as a childhood hobby, but over time, I took it to a professional level— delving into papercutting, glass engraving, and wood-resin art. I spent a few years on these crafts, but deep down, I realized they weren’t my true calling and I was still searching for something that truly challenged me. Then, almost by chance, I picked up woodworking. The moment I started shaping wood, everything clicked: I had finally found a medium with the permanence, character, and structural challenge I had been looking for—a way to build tangible things that leave a mark and outlive me.

My woodworking journey started humbly with a single Dremel Moto-Saw. Back then, being a DIYer in India was an uphill battle; sourcing specialty tools, hardware, and raw materials felt like a Herculean task, and finding anyone else sharing the same interest was nearly impossible.

Everything changed during the COVID lockdowns. I started an Instagram account to share my projects and finally connected with a vibrant community of fellow makers to exchange guidance and ideas. Since then, there’s been no turning back. Today, my work spans everything from handcrafted wooden boxes to custom chess sets, one-of-a-kind scale models, and extreme-scale micro miniatures.

My background in electronics and IT directly influences how I approach every build. The "Digital" in DigitalWoodworker isn't just a label—it represents my precision-driven mindset. I treat woodworking as an engineering discipline, with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges and going to whatever lengths necessary to solve them. To push those limits, I continuously source niche, highly specialized machinery from around the globe—equipment that remains extremely rare in India—to bring absolute precision to every intricate detail.
